The Federal Reserve Raised Its Key Interest Rate

MARCH 17, 2022 - 1 MINUTE READ

The Federal Reserve raised its key interest rate by a quarter of a percentage point, as they took their first step toward trying to tame inflation by cooling off the economy. The Fed had kept rates near zero since March 2020 and this marks the first increase since 2018.  Policymakers also projected six more increases over the course of 2022.
