All Eyes On The Fed

The recent invasion of Ukraine by Russia has created even more uncertainty around what the Fed might do when they meet in a couple weeks on March 15th and 16th. Last week, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell testified that he will support a traditional 25 basis point hike at the upcoming meeting. If the war on Ukraine continues to escalate and commodity prices start to feed into longer-term inflation expectations, the Fed could find its monetary options more limited.
